For the Basel Convention Regional Centre for Training and Technology Transfer for the Caribbean (BCRC-Caribbean), we embarked on a crucial mission: to illuminate the hazards of mercury through the engaging narrative of “Captain Minamata.” This animated short, part of a broader awareness campaign under the Minamata Initial Assessment, aimed to educate the populations of Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines about mercury’s sources and its perilous impact on health and the environment. Through captivating animation and compelling storytelling, we brought to life a powerful message of environmental stewardship and public health.
